βThere is a way that nature speaks, that land speaks. Most of the time, we are simply not patient enough, quiet enough, to pay attention to the story.β

Datascapes is an ongoing investigation of what is nature and how can we learn from them and apply them to design. Throughout my life, I have always believed nature was removed from myself. I confined its definition to humongous trees, vast forests and sprawling landscapes. I always thought nature is something you seek but after some reflection, I later realize the limitations of that perception. Nature is all around me. The breeze is nature. The heat of the sun is nature. I am nature.
Through this investigation, I seek to learn from nature and apply it to my practice in a way that challenges my perception of nature. Nature has a myriad of ways in which they records data from tree rings to rock formations. How do I learn from these ways and apply to my own practice of data visualization? Through the application of communication design and research and learnings on nature, we create nature inspired data visualization.
